According to the Government of Canada website, Canadians don’t know much about concussions.

  • 1 in 2 Canadians have little or no knowledge about concussion
  • 1 in 4 do not know how concussion is treated
  • Only 15% can correctly identify the best ways to treat concussion
  • Only 4 in 10 are aware of available concussion tools or resources

Considering the seriousness of a concussion these stats are pretty disappointing. We brought on a special guest to have a conversation about a personal concussion experience and learning journey.

Mel Wright is the Movement Room Coach at East Coast Chiropractic, a retired roller derby player, current skate school instructor, is studying reflexology and personal training, and is a health and wellness enthusiast with a huge passion for mindset. Needless to say, we are so grateful she is on our team and so excited to have her on as a guest on this week’s episode.

Mel dives into the events leading up to her own concussion diagnosis, the signs and symptoms she experienced, and what has helped her most on her healing journey.

We also discuss the BIGGEST myths that are circling around when it comes to concussions. Finally, Mel shares some amazing resources that you can use as a parent, coach, player or for general knowledge (because a concussion can happen to anyone!).
