Dr. Kaite’s Tricks and Treats for a Healthy Fall

Here are some tricks and treats for a healthy start to fall:
Tricks:
With shorter and cooler days coming, everyone tends to spend a little more time indoors which can sometimes mean more screen time indoors. Hunching over screens can lead to some spooky posture. Here are some tricks to help combat the scary posture and keep your spine healthy and happy.
- Use the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eyes and posture a reset
- Every 60 minutes at minimum give yourself a quick reset by standing and doing a quick stretch.
- Get yourself a stand to hold a tablet/phone/ebook and position your device at eye level so you don’t have to tilt your head down to look at the device. Find an example here
- Set a screen curfew for 1 hour before bed to allow for your your body’s natural circadian rhythm and not disrupt your sleep.
