5 Things You Need To Know About Mel

  1. I played roller derby for 5 years. My position was the jammer (the one who wears a star on her helmet and scores points). My most cherished moment was when we were losing in the semi finals with only one jam (one play basically) to go. Most people assumed we had lost and there was no chance at a recovery which meant we would not only lose but have to play another game right away. My teammates made a joke that if we won this round we could use the break to get burritos. I went out and scored 27 points in 2 minutes, securing the team into the finals (and of course, going out for food!)
  2. Most people know I have a cat, but I also have an axolotl named Soapy! He’s a type of salamander that lives underwater. He’s 7 years old and about 11 inches long including his tail.
  3. I am obsessed with peanut butter and eat it every day!
  4. I’ve been vegetarian for over 20 years.
  5. My husband and I got married in October because it’s our favourite month (we both love the fall). We always celebrate by going on a weekend trip, and the most memorable was the year we went to Salem, Massachusetts! Halloween is by far my favourite holiday, so being there in October was spooktacular!
I’m Dr. Marie and helping moms and their children is my passion. I support women through conception, pregnancy, and postpartum.
