STEPHANIE COADY

I’m Stephanie Coady (she/her/hers), a Licensed Counselling Therapist – Candidate (LCT-C) with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick (CCTNB). I am also a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

I’m a lifelong Frederictonian; completing my Bachelor of Arts at the University of New Brunswick with a focus in Sociology, Psychology, and English and more recently, my Masters of Education at the University of New Brunswick in Counselling Psychology. During our time together in session, I consider the wholeness of you – mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually and how you show up in all areas of your life. I use an integrative approach to wellbeing, which encompasses all aspects of the human condition. We are complex individuals with our own unique stories and experiences.

I am here to walk alongside you on your journey and listen to your story. I love seeing my clients grow while encouraging and empowering them to live their lives with the most authentic versions of themselves. Providing you with a confidential, safe, relaxing environment in a non-judgemental and trauma-informed space encourages you to work towards feeling better and optimize your mental and overall well-being.

My counselling style is influenced by a variety of person-centred/humanistic approaches in order to best help my clients deal with their life experiences and emotions. I have experience in working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, people-pleasing tendencies/perfectionism, anger, new parents, stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, divorce/separation, PTSD, health anxiety, self-esteem, co-dependency, navigating life transitions, boundary/goal setting and much more. For seven years, I worked closely with high school and post-secondary students (as well as their parents) across Canada and have assisted thousands of young adults on their journey from high school to post-secondary. This life transition comes with many struggles, such as academic issues, social anxiety, procrastination, perfectionism, and navigating new relationships (just to name a few!). Becoming a first-time mom in 2021, and dealing with my own identity shift during this time, introduced me to the concept of Matrescence. Finding balance as a new parent can be exceptionally difficult, and inspired me to want to work alongside other new parents in individual and/or group settings.

I have training in Emotion Focused Therapy, Process Experiential Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I have received additional training in Perinatal Mood Disorders and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS – Prenatal, Pregnancy, Postpartum, including the adjustment to parenthood for both the birthing person and their partner), ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), Burnout, First Responders, and I am also trained in Mindfulness-based practices, such as Reiki Levels 1 & 2.

During your session, I want you to feel empowered, validated, heard, and motivated, while both myself and you grow and work alongside each other. No one is immune from struggle. The quote “kindness begets kindness” has always resonated with me, and I hope you carry the same kindness and compassion for yourself as you do so often for others in your life.

When I’m not curled up in my office with a coffee, you can probably find me chatting around the office, going to a workout class, travelling, walking the trails with my family and our dog Radar, finding new ways to express my creativity, enjoying our local restaurants, or watching comedies.
